Social Action

POWER in our vote (6)

Social Action is the vehicle through which the sorority establishes a position on an emerging or perennial public issue, determines the action to be taken, and directs the actions of the members, chapters, and representative bodies.

The Social Action Committee of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Fort Washington Alumnae Chapter (FWAC SAC) is charged with monitoring federal, state, and local legislation and providing members and community groups with legislative updates, alerts and information on public policy and civil rights activities as they happen in order for the Chapter to effect social change and public policy.

FWAC SAC activities include voter education and registration drives, domestic violence awareness workshops, partnering with Prince George’s and Charles County elected officials to deter youth crime, mentoring, tutoring, and beautifying our communities (Charles and Prince George’s County Adopt-A-Road).

FWAC SAC is a Family Crisis Center of Prince George County partner, Co-sponsor of Maryland’s Annual Women’s Legislative Briefing and coordinates the Chapter’s participation/involvement in Delta Days in the Nation’s Capital and Delta Day in Annapolis.
