Jabberwock
The 2026 Jabberwock Program is an enriching youth development and scholarship initiative organized by the Fort Washington Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., in partnership with the Coalition for Stronger Communities, Inc. Our theme for this year’s program is “Cultivated in Crimson: The Ascendance of a Queen”. Our 2026 theme represents a journey of growth, resilience, and triumph. It reminds us that queens are not born overnight; they are cultivated through discipline, grace, perseverance, and love.
This comprehensive program spans approximately nine months and welcomes young ladies in grades 9-12 as Miss Jabberwock and those in grades 6-8 as Jr. Miss Jabberwock from the surrounding Maryland communities.
Participants will engage in a variety of activities aimed at enhancing their academic, social, cultural, and civic knowledge. The Jabberwock program serves as a meaningful rite of passage, culminating with the Cotillion, a formal presentation of these remarkable young women to the Maryland community.
Proceeds from the Cotillion fundraiser will provide scholarships and incentives for the participants to assist with their educational endeavors. Sponsorship donations and purchasing of advertisements are great opportunities to support the participants in their fundraising efforts!
The Fort Washington Alumnae Chapter’s Jabberwock Cotillion Program is a 9-month personal growth and development opportunity for young ladies currently in the 6th – 8th grade. Our theme for this year’s program is “The Reign of A Princess”. All of the talented young ladies are identified as “Princesses” and exemplify poise, leadership, academic achievement and respect within their schools and communities. They will have the opportunity to engage in various social, educational and community service activities that encourage future success.
In an effort to continue the legacy of raising scholarship funds, each Princess will participate in the Jabberwock Cotillion Pageant. The proceeds from the Pageant fundraiser will provide scholarships and incentives for the Princesses to assist with their educational endeavors. Sponsorship donations and purchasing of advertisements are great opportunities to support the Princesses in their fundraising efforts!
Join us as we celebrate the culmination of a journey of personal growth, social awareness, and development of young ladies at the Jabberwock Cotillion – “The Reign of a Princess” at Martin’s Crosswinds. Come formally dressed to celebrate and recognize the Princesses’ achievements and accomplishments at this regal affair.
